Digital watermarks can be used to embed patient information into medical images used in radiology, scintillography and clinical photography. Signum's watermarking system has been optimised to ensure that image data is not visually affected in any way and clinical trials are due to be published which validate this.

By using VeriData, original medical images can be authenticated and retained as master reference files in the event that such authentication is subsequently required for medical, legal or ethical reasons. VeriData Plus, an extension of the VeriData technology, provides a unique capability to both ensure the provenance and prove the integrity of digital images as part of patient records.
